The Midwest Region of Omega Delta Phi gathered for their first in person event this past weekend in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Brothers from the Omicron Chapter at UW-Parkside, Alpha Zeta Chapter at UW- Milwaukee, Beta Alpha Chapter at Northeastern Illinois, and Beta Upsilon at Southeastern Illinois enjoyed a weekend of fellowship, community service, and fun. Brothers from Delta Chapter at Texas A&M University and Xi Chapter at the University of Oklahoma also travelled to the Badger state for this event.
The Regional Director Eduardo Rivera along with Regional Board member Johny Cedeño coordinated the weekend, an annual tradition of the Midwest entities. Road Warrior Weekend is a weekend long series of events hosted by one of the Midwest chapters to which undergraduates and alumni alike travel to for brotherhood, service, and an overall good time.
The weekend kicked off with a meet and greet at a local Milwaukee restaurant and continued with a Saturday morning service effort at the Habitat for Humanity Resale Store of Milwaukee. Brothers were able to get their hands dirty by cleaning up the store, breaking down and building furniture and other fixtures. The weekend continued with a brotherhood cookout at Lake Park near the Milwaukee Lakefront where brothers enjoyed good food and an intense game of kickball.
“It was a great time meeting with brothers again after so long and after the year we’ve all had. Prioritizing safety was of utmost importance and seeing to it that brothers were able to come together and celebrate our region and our Brotherhood was pretty memorable” said Cedeño.
Actives from the undergraduate entities in the Midwest Region were encouraged to attend, but not mandated. It is the hope of the RD and Regional Board that the Road Warrior Weekend tradition will continue in a more normal fashion, moving forward.
Dylan Oberbroeckling, Omicron Chapter, Fall 2020 initiate said the following about the weekend “It was a lot of fun meeting bros from other chapters. I wish more could’ve made it but appreciated everyone who came. My favorite part was definitely playing kickball. It was very competitive but friendly competition at the same time. I think it was a very fun weekend overall. I hope next time more bros can make it to the event and have more help for service!”
