University of Florida Colony University of Florida
Colony Beginnings
On August 2006 four men came together and discussed their shared vision about creating a fraternity focused on change. They wanted an organization that provided men the opportunity to achieve personal and professional excellence. These men realized that the only fraternity which reflected their own ideals was Omega Delta Phi Fraternity, Incorporated.
After they initiated communication and expressed interest, ODPhi quickly responded. They officially became known as Men of Vision shortly after. Though not reco
gnized as an official interest group by the university, Men of Vis
ion began to put their plans into action to ensure its success. They vocalized their identity as an interest group to their peers and administration, solidified their group by attaining more members, and established a presence through successful programs. Men of Vision brought change to more than just the university itself. It became the first ODPhi group in the South and the first in the state of Florida. With its emphasis on professionalism, dedication to service, and education about diversity, Men of Vision served as a catalyst for change on the University of Florida campus.
Omega Delta Phi was founded at the University of Florida in Fall 2008 by thirteen knights, Mario Del Rio, Angel I. Estrella, Carlos C. Estrella, Ryan Alexander Valdes, Harold E. Sanchez, Diego Antonio Recinos, Giancarlo Franchini, Davier Rodríguez, Lesly Jerome, Manuel A. Rodríguez M., Nikola Kenjic, Phillip Chitty, and Rafael A. Cruzado. The founding class first publicly showcased their brotherhood on April 3, 2009 at Turlington Plaza as a symbol that Omega Delta Phi will forever be dedicated to the University of Florida.
On November 21st 2009, the Charter class was presented to the public featuring Jonathan Avilez, Raul Orellana and Wesley Scruggs. The three are determined to leave their own mark and continue the mission of the colony founders before them to bring a chapter of Omega Delta Phi Fraternity to the University of Florida.
